Clinton Global Initiative University is a new version of the Clinton Global Initiative (see below), wherein President Clinton invites students to join in with NGO's and non-profits to help solve the world's problems. The inaugural meeting was held in March 2008 at Tulane University along with an event launching Brad Pitt's Make It Right Foundation's program aimed at rebuilding the hurricaine-devastated Lower 9th Ward. Launched in 2005, the Clinton Global Initiative is a foundation set up to bring together the world's most powerful corporations and the world's political leaders with NGO's and non-profits with the aim of making solid commitments to solving the world's most pressing problems. Every year there is a three day meeting during the United Nations General Assembly in which all the participants converge upon a hotel in New York City for events, seminars and meetings.
